Board of Supervisors, County of San Luis Obispo, State of California, proclaims October 27 to November 2, 2009, HANDS on Health Week...

Cal Poly's Kinesiology Department, through its STRIDE program, is taking a leadership role in community health by initiating and hosting the event HANDS ON HEALTH; and this event is a stellar example of Central coast agencies promoting love ofphysical ativity and healthy eating across the lifespan; and this event highlights the cooperative spirit of these 40+ agencies who see health promotion of county residents as a key foundation to the health of the county, improving cardiovascular health, body composition andm ental well-being; this is a remarkable collaboration of academic, medical, governmental, private business (industry) and concerned citizens sharing a vision and taking the steps needed to make the vision become a reality, creating cost-effective solutions to health screening and education; and through HANDS ON HEALTH, San Luis Obispo will continue to serve as a role model in the state and nation for promoting healthy lifestyles.

We envision HANDS ON HEALTH will highlight interactive learning opportunities to engage our residents across the lifespan to continue to learn, to grow, and to foster personal responsibility by offering resources people need to make their own decisions toimprove their health and the health of their families.
