New Frontiers presents, FILM FOR THOUGHT. October 24th - October 30, 2009. A Week of HopeDance FiLMs. Transitioning to a healthier, local and sustainable food system.

HopeDance FiLMs and New Frontiers Natural Marketplace in San Luis Obispo is proud to bring you “Film for Thought,” a week of films that get you thinking about food and transitioning toward a healthier, local, and sustainable food system. This week, which also includes the Chef’s Touch restaurant week, celebrates health and is the perfect lead in to the HANDs on Health Symposium and Festival happening Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st.

From October 24 – 30, 2009, you can look forward to a thought provoking, awareness-building film each evening at 7:00pm at the locations noted below.


Saturday, October 24: Two Angry Moms

  • Location: SLO County Public Library - Corner of Osos and Palm, San Luis Obispo
  • Film Description: A Film about school food and the solutions toward a healthier system, features Alice Waters and Marion Nestle.

Sunday, October 25: Killer at Large

  • Location: SLO County Public Library - Corner of Osos and Palm, San Luis Obispo
  • Film Description: Why Obesity is America’s Greatest Threat, features Michael Pollan and Bill Clinton.

Monday, October 26: King Corn

  • Location: SLO County Public Library - Corner of Osos and Palm, San Luis Obispo
  • Film Description: Two young men in search of what’s going on with corn and our food.

Tuesday, October 27: The End of the Line

  • Location: Templeton Community Center | 601 Main Street, Templeton - 805-434-3950
  • Film Description: Overfishing and what can we do about it; based on the book of the same title.

Wednesday, October 28: Good Food

  • Location: SLO County Public Library - Corner of Osos and Palm, San Luis Obispo
  • Film Description: A positive film about how a sustainable food system works and what it looks like.

Thursday, October 29: Simply Raw

  • Film Description: Diabetics endure a 30-day retreat with only raw foods and miracles happen; features Gabriel Cousens.

Friday, October 30: Fresh

  • Location: SLO County Public Library - Corner of Osos and Palm, San Luis Obispo
  • Film Description: New thinking about what we’re eating, with many solutions, features Michael Pollan, Joel Salatin, Will Allen and David Ball.

A discussion and/or conversation will ensue after the film, with the possibility of regional speakers and/or experts to speak and hold the discussion.
